THE HALFORDS LANE STAND

Capacity: 5,110

Opened (Fully):
1981/82 Season

Cost:
£2,500,000

Stand Replaced: The old Halfords Lane Stand.

The Halfords Lane was the first of the 'newer' stands to be opened. It contained the Albion 'VIP' seats, the press box, and a number of executive boxes along the back until the East Stand took over as the main hospitality section when it was completed at the start of the 2001/2002 season.

The changing rooms are housed underneath the stand, and the teams run out through the central tunnel, with the team benches either side. The Halfords Lane stand used to house the main club offices again these moved to the East Stand in 2001. The Halfords Lane does still house restaurant and bars.

This all seated stand runs down the West side of the ground and has a capacity of 5,110 people.

The building of this Stand spanned the length of two seasons. Building started during the 1979/80 season at the Smethwick End of the ground and continued through into the 1980/81 season, when the Stand continued being built up towards the Birmingham Road End. During the building, various amenities went and came. The old changing rooms gave way to new as did the Board Room, Director's Lounges and all the trappings of the club big wigs who had to make do for a while with some portacabins on Halfords Lane. The Stand was completed in time for the first match of the 1981/82 season.
