Biography
James joined Albion for an initial £1.5m in August 2007 from
Premiership side Middlesbrough, the fee could rise by £700,000
dependant of appearances and a sell on clause of 15% to Boro. A
talented creative player with an ability to run with the ball at pace
either out on the right wing or as an attacking midfielder.
Morrison began his football life as a product of the Middlesbrough
youth academy and played a significant role in the helping the club
to success in the FAYC of 2003-04 with some eye-catching performances
on the way to the final and scoring twice in the first-leg in a 3-0
win against Aston Villa. His first team debut came in January 2004 as
a substitute in a FA Cup tie against Notts County with his
Premiership debut coming four months later at Portsmouth on the final
day of the 2003-04 season. The first of his three goals for
Middlesbrough came in his first taste of European football in a 1-1
draw away at Banik Ostrava in a UEFA cup tie in September 2004
scoring a last minute equaliser for his club. James collected a UEFA
Cup runners-up medal in 2006 after starting in the Boro side beaten
in Eindhoven. In his career at The Riverside he made a total of 98
appearances including 38 as a substitute.
James has represented England at all levels up to and including U19
but has chosen to represent Scotland at Full levels for who he
qualifies through his grand-parents.
