Biography
Pedro Pele completed a £1m move to Albion from Southampton in August
2007 signing a two year deal with a further twelve month’s option in
the club’s favour. A versatile player who is equally at home playing
at centre-half or as a defensive midfielder.
His career began in his homeland of Portugal with Desportivo Feirense
where he spent 8 years playing 210 games scoring 12 goals before a
move to Belenenses in 2005, he spent only 12 months with the club
before moving to England to join Southampton in July 2006 for an
undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £1m despite interest
from Premiership clubs Portsmouth and West Ham. In December 2006 he
scored his only goal for the Saints against Leicester City and went
onto make 44 appearances for the club during the 2006-07 season
before his move to The Hawthorns.
Pele has accepted an offer to represent Cape Verde in the 2008
African Nations Qualifiers after previously declining offers.
