Biography
Luke Steele joined Manchester United on a four year deal when he was only 18 from Peterborough. This was for an initial fee of £500,000 rising to £2.25 million depending on appearances. Before joining United he spent a month on loan at Old Trafford appearing twice for the reserves.
Before joining Manchester United, Steele had only played two games for the Posh where he was highly respected. Steele described his move to the Red Devils back in May 2002 as ‘a dream’.
During his time at United he failed to make an impact, but obviously has a whole career ahead of him. He joined Coventry City back in September 2004 on a four month loan deal which extended to May 2005. He failed again to make an impact again in 2005/06 and joined the Baggies in August 2006 which saw Tomasz Kuszczak go the other way to United on a season long loan deal. The baggies also beat off competition from Coventry City who were hoping to sign the player.
