Albion travel to
Edgar Street tonight for
their latest pre-season
friendly against League
Two outfit Hereford
United. Fresh from a 5-1
drubbing over
Northampton
Town on Wednesday night,
the squad
Albion are sending does not include any of the eleven players that
were used at Sixfields.
A mix of experience and youth which includes promising
youngster David Worrall, Albion's 17 year-old midfielder
signed from Bury in March who had figured in all
previous friendlies before the Northampton game while
new signing Leon Barnett is also expected to play some
part in the Edgar Street friendly.
Albion’s previous friendlies have seen one win and three draws,
scoring seven goals and conceding three.
Squad from: Daniels, Steele, Robinson, Barnett, Worrall,
Chaplow, Carter, Nicholson, MacDonald, Ellington,
Albrechtsen, Wallwork, Nardiello, Mason, Morrison,
Labadie and Manchester.
HEREFORD UNITED
Hereford United have played two friendlies so far both
resulting in victories, 4-0 against local side Pegasus
Juniors where two of the goals came from trialists and
1-0 away to Bath City where the goal was also scored by
a trialist, Simon Johnson.
Graham Turner welcomes back midfielder Ben Smith who
missed the 1-0 victory over Bath City on Tuesday but
will be without defender Dean Beckworth who suffered
concussion 5 minutes before half time in Tuesday’s game
at Twerton Park.
The Bulls have completed the signings of four new
players so far this summer, bringing in: John McCombe a
22 year-old former Huddersfield centre-half, 27 year-old
centre half Karl Broadhurst who played over 200 games
for Bournemouth, Kris Taylor, a 22 year-old released by
Walsall who is a former Manchester United trainee and
Clint Easton, a 29 year-old left sided player who was
released by Gillingham.
Boss Graham Turner, along with his coach and former
Baggie John Trewick are actively looking to strengthen
their squad before the season starts and have had a
variety of trialists figuring in the games so far
including Simon Johnson, Lionel Ainsworth, Chris
Zebrowski, Joe Hutchinson and keeper Adam Collins.
Former Albion defender Tamika Mkandawire who was captain
of the Bulls last season moved on in the summer to
Leyton Orient on a free transfer after four seasons with
the club.

Current Connexions
John Trewick
joined
Albion as an apprentice in July 1972 and signed
professional forms two years later. During his six year
professional career at The Hawthorns he made 134
appearances for the Baggies scoring 12 goals in total.
He also played over 160 reserve team games scoring 29
goals. He left Albion for Newcastle United in December
1980 for a £234,000 fee. He joined Oxford United on loan
in January 1984, singing permanently seven months later,
He then moved to Birmingham City in September 1987 for
£30,000. He moved to Bromsgrove Rovers in August 1989
then Hartlepool United in October the same year then
back to Bromsgrove Rovers in May 1990. He signed for
Gateshead in October 1990 and had a brief spell with
Tamworth. He became Albion's youth team coach in 1993
and later became reserve team coach and also caretaker
manager. He became Hereford's first team coach in the
summer of 2004 after being assistant manager and coach
at Derby County in 2001-02, assistant manager and coach
at Cradley Town in 2002-03 and academy director at
Wolves during August 2003 to May 2004.

Albion fans
are situated in half of the Floors-2-Go Stand which runs
parallel to the pitch. This stand accommodates both
seating in the upper tier and covered terracing in the
lower tier.
