So the season started with Ishmael Miller a hot-shot Premier young gun and will end with Miller the Championship veteran and more importantly BAGGIE!!! But what has Miller actually learnt from the experience and is this £900,000 the coup of the century or a flash in the pan?
Sven spends money like it is going out of fashion, indeed he probably spends more on a suit than we could find in the spare change of the 22,000 plus at the Hawthorns tomorrow. And so, the argument will go that the elegant Swede overlooked a young English talent to bring in yet another over-paid journeyman or the search for one big pay day. Man City's loss would appear to be Albion's gain but is this really the case.
Miller burst onto the Championship like a refreshing breath of fresh air for fans still reeling from Wembley disappointment and the memory of former managers and a 'more defensive' style of football. However, during his time on loan has Miller developed and improved?
The boy has got pace and a frighteningly hard strike at goal although it doesn't always reach the target, or to often bounces into the arms of a waiting keeper. He is a player to change a game most certainly but is he a starter- when compared with Philips and Bed's I think not.
So what has Miller got to work on - if TM looks to use 4-4-1-1 and include Miller in that he must learn to hold the ball up better, some sections of the media see Miller as playing out wide too but to do this he must become a better crosser of the ball. And of course finally the boy has got to hit the net. Too many shots bounce lamely wide or fall to the keeper, let’s hope he listens and takes advice from the experience that Super Kev provides.
Any talk of comparisons to Cyrille is too early yet but the future? Hard work, effort, training and application, oh and loyalty will make this happen, so what does the future hold? I think it might be fun finding out!
