Derby or Albion???

Isn't it funny how managers go back to their old clubs in their hour of need. Gary Megson has turned to Gera and Robinson, allegedly in the press and Robbo has been linked with a few old drinking buddies too in the shape of Wallwork and Quashie. Will any of these players save these managers from the impending doom? One has to expect that sooner or later Robson's number will be up at Bramall Lane. The fans have lost patience with him and again the exit clock seems to be ticking from Bryan. How many more lifes Robson 'the manager' has in him must be questioned, time surely must be ticking on his managerial career.

And what of Derby who's fans so gleefully delighted in our misery at Wembley. I wonder whether the smile of their oh so funny 'boing boing baggie shite' faces is still so bright. Davies took the bullet early doors. Now I don't like the man but still it was very quick. And so in comes Jewell, to help them stay in the promised land. Funny how a man who can't take the pressure at Wigan not even in the relegation zones, moves to the Premiership's bottom club. And so Paul Jewell, a man I have a lot of time for in all honesty, turns to that merry band of Premiership journeymen to rescue the club from impending doom. So Lauren Robert may not cost anything but I guess his wages are anything but small, I'm sure his signing on fee could feed a small country. There seems to be more to follow too Savage and a unknown African striker- all very costly and will it save Derby from the drop??? Of course not!!! Gerrad, Rooney and Torres would stuggle to do that!

In the past Mr Peace has been criticised, no, even attacked for not opening his wallet but surely this must have been the best policy. Would we be in such a strong place now had we filled our squad with the likes of Robert and Savage to save us from relegation, I think not. With Robson as manager very little would have saved us from relegation, not even a 30-something Frenchman.

Instead we waited for Robbo to finally get himself sacked and for his ageing squad to leave and then waited for a manager we could trust and a team that wouldn't cost the earth. The summer saw the departure of those players who didn't want to stay and an introduction of those who wanted to play in blue and white. And now who is in the stronger postion Albion or Derby. Lets think about it:
ALBION:
Manager- TM
Key players- Super Kev, Deano, and as the song goes 'we've got Morrison, Gera, Brunty, Texieria, Robert Koren and Jono.'
Prospects- Good to Very Good.

DERBY:
Manager- Paul Jewell
Key Players- Dingle Kenny, Robert and maybe Savage???
Prospects- Doomed

I rest my case.
